…future development.

Land Reserved for Future Develpment

For some reason I felt rather lethargic on Sunday (yesterday) and struggled to get myself going. I had planned a short cycle ride but the dull weather made me hesitate. I read a book for a while, made and ate my lunch, read a bit more and then I forced myself to go ahead with my planned cycle ride. As soon as I opened the front door the sun came out.

I made my way through the local housing estates to the green belt of countryside, which is a joy to cycle around. However it is upsetting to see most of the gates to the green fields sporting a sign saying ‘Land reserved for future development’.

Due to the recent autumnal weather I picked up a fleece before I left the house but it wasn’t needed.  Summer had returned, I got rather overheated and had to take a rest and sit on a bench to cool down… It gave me the excuse to play around with some artistic photo shots ;-)

Rest a While with Me

The weather reprieve meant it was warm enough for us to enjoy our Sunday evening roast on the patio watching the sun descend behind ‘my oak tree‘. A perfect end to the day :-)

  1. it’s sad to see beautiful fields and trees in the countryside… too bad that they are being replaced with houses that all look the same Cherie…

    Adore that bike.

  3. I hope they can preserve that land for more people to enjoy.

Fascinating!! But I hope it is not reserved for wind farms or cement processing complexes. Close by one of the green space was destined for an abattoir but that was stopped and the space will now be used for ‘More’ houses, which I think this land is reserved for…

I’d vote for whatever party that said “No, sorry, no more building. We’re overcrowds as it. The last million people we let in, pack your bags and off you go. We’ll be in touch when there is room again.”. Haa!!

Yeah. Well, no war, but a tiny desease would be lovely with worldwide 13 million human beings surviving, at best. And you being the “Führer” of those 13 millions, Alan, hm? :) Haa!!

The reserved land doesn’t have anything to do with ‘more people’, native or otherwise. It is land that has been reserved for future housing in relation to the New Towns act of 1946 and more recent legislation promising the building of affordable housing.

Lots of legislation and no planning ;-)

Letting sarcasm aside. We – ‘we’ ’cause it’s not just ‘them” –, we are creating multiple problems. And I (sic) do not have ‘the answer’.
It seems, if not paralysed by whatever, we are helpless. Not able for what is possible.
We – you, Adam, I and most of your commenters – are privileged. We’ve been allowed to live in peace whilst war . . . fortunately . . . was . . . somewhere else.
Interesting, eh? War here, war there, war everywhere, but not in . . . Merry Old Europe.
However, ‘we’ are working on it. Some of ‘us’ seemingly can hardly wait for it.
    The peace of the night.

Interesting how my light hearted cycle ride got back to war…

Yes we are privileged, for now… Is war ever fortunate? I don’t think so.

War should not happen but it does because of power and greed. Those who do not want war seem powerless and unable to change ongoing cycle of wars. It is curious why this should be. The vast majority of people do not want war, but seem unable to stop it…

You perhaps won’t want to read my next few posts which are going back to WW1 reflections. We should not forget what happened, we should be sad and disgusted and we should learn from these past events, so we don’t make the same mistakes… But we will…

Just to finish I will share a link to one of my posts. I am not sure if you have seen it before:
