The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn; the bird waits in the egg; and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities.

  1. Like that photo. Like that tap. Like (most of) that thought.

    I love that tap!
Dare I say it…. it probably looks better now than when it was new, thanks to all the years of weathering :)

And the quote is very true, everything that exists was imagined first before it could be created.

“The universe begins to look more like a great thought than a great machine.”

Much of the world as we live it started as a dream in some person’s mind. The clothes we sit in, the chair we sit on, the computer we sit at. The house that is our home. Whoever made all of these conceived them in mind before organising the natural, existing world to bring them into being.

And the whole world? The Universe? Did that, too, start as a thought in the Creator’s mind? Aquinas’ “Uncaused Cause of All Things’ is a dreamer who has dreamt of a new heaven.

It’s a great thought and I love that part about the waking angel stirring in the highest vision of the soul. I understand that some people many not like the religious reference but when you take it metaphorically, it expresses so much. Dreams are both thoughts and visions, taking us further, aren’t they?
