The Tenderness of Minds

One of the things that caught my eye when I visited Winchester Cathedral was an art and poetry exhibition (The Tenderness of Patient Minds) commemorating the First World War.

The glass poppies in the first photograph were made by Year 7 pupils at Lakeside BESD school in Chandlers Ford.

    These are amazingly portrayed, Cherie

    Magnificent, heart-rending sculptures, Cherry!

  3. You know that guy who created the Tower of London poppies, was awarded an MBE?!
What? I totally disagree with that :(

    1. He didn’t really “create” all the poppies all by himself. All the workers behind the scene should be honoured too.

    2. He was paid to do his job, not that he spent his pensions, savings to showcase his work.

I didn’t know he had been awarded an MBE.

As to him being awarded it and not the workers, unfortunately that is how the awarding of MBEs works. The leader of the team gets the award. Good team leaders then acknowledge the workers letting others know they have received the reward on behalf of the team.

I wonder if you have ever heard the phrase ‘Other Buggers Efforts’ in relation to the ‘OBE’? ;-)
