They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repent.

i’m not sure about the thought for the week Cherie… but i love the magnificent statue of the Madonna and Child….peter:)
I am glad you like the statue
“The Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us.” I remember once memorizing a long portion of John’s Gospel because of how beautiful it is, Cherry.
Some of the biblical passages are very beautiful
The quote is too difficult for me (and my lost in translation part) but I do love the picture, so wonderful colours.
The statue is very striking
Just before this verse, verse 16 says…
“And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?
I think Christ gave the scribes and Pharisees the answer they wanted to hear to stave them off for the time being. Not that it wasn’t truth, of course, because it was, for all mankind.
However, Jesus also clearly preferred those publicans and sinners to the “(self) righteous” Pharisees – evident by the fact he chose them as his disciples instead
I too see the quote as meaning “self righteous”. If you see it in that way it gives meaning to the quote.
