Those are really excellent shots, CP. I often visited Winchester when I was younger, but need to go back and take more in of that wonderful Saxon capital. Your interior shots are beautifully clear.
Thank you
You really should visit Winchester, I would love to see your photos
Beautiful photos of a really lovely cathedral – do hope I can visit Winchester one day. Your interior shots are very good
I hope you get the chance, it is well worth a visit.
the inside looks modestly small but very elegant. from the exterior it looks huge. i’m not sure which of these is true as i have never visited. your images are really beautiful!!
The cathedral is not huge, but inside the cathedral had a special feeling for me
I was there on Wednesday and ‘boy’ was it cold. The grass around the Cathedral remained white all day. Also around the Cathedral was the Victorian Christmas Market with Victorian Hot Mulled Wine.
You just can’t imagine how warming and welcome that wine was. I even had to go back for a second glass to remind myself how I needed something hot. Later I went to the NT water-mill. thinking I might get warm there. It was freezing as well. I ended up in Marks & Spencer’s to de-ice my spectacles.
When we visited Winchester the stalls for the Christmas market were just being built, no mulled wine…
It was freezing here to on Wednesday, the frost on the pathways was exquisite, but I had no time to take photos as I made my way into work.
It was also the day I had to venture out to a briefing in another building. I wrapped up warm!!
I visited Chester Cathedral last month. It was really impressive!
It is on my doorstep but I haven’t visited for a while…
PS: I also went to see a rather unusual church in Winchelsea, Sussex last weekend.
Part ruins, part church!
Look it up, it’s called St Thomas.
Interesting… I am currently planning out a potential holiday to Sussex next year
