Chichester Cathedral

Because we had packed up the night before, we arrived for breakfast a little earlier than we had on previous days. There was only one other lady in the breakfast room and we wondered if most of the rooms were empty. We learned that this was due to breakfast being served a little bit later on a Saturday and that guests tended to come down to breakfast at the last minute.

After we had settled our bill, I took a few last photographs of the Cathedral before we set off for Stonehenge, stopping off at a garden centre along the way for a cup of tea. Before we left the garden centre Mr C phoned West Dean Gardens on the off chance that his missing spectacles had turned up. He was surprised and pleased to hear that they had. On learning that we were on our way home they agreed to post them to him.

At Stonehenge we decided to have lunch before walking to the stones. The walk and views were as lovely as usual especially in the sunshine. After enjoying the stones and capturing a few photographs we took a different walking route back to the visitor centre.

We arrived home just in time to freshen up before going out to dinner. Family had invited us so that we didn’t have to bother with shopping. The food was delicious and a good time was had by all.

I love the hint of the stones in your last image, Cherry, with the foreground weeds/lowers highlighted. Sounds like you had a delightful trip, all in all.

What a lovely long break, Cherie. I will catch up on what I have missed

This looks and sounds like a wonderful trip. I so love the picture with the shadows.
Like Ginnie said, the bottom picture I like the view in the far end of Stonehenge. Quite the place I assume. The dinner sounds like a good ending of the day.

The light I captured in the second photograph is quite spectacular to behold.

You and Ginnie would love a visit to Stonehenge, I hope you get the opportunity on one of your UK visits :-)

  4. Lovely photos. – I haven’t been to Stone Henge since I was little many many years ago. You have certainly had a super holiday.

I love the work that has been done to open up the Stonehenge site so that you can see the stones in the wider context of the landscape.

It was a great holiday, thank you :-)

Windows that almost fill the walls right down to the floor are sublime. The second photo shows a light filled space that I love.

what a pleasant day on all accounts, CP. i loved the last couple of shots, we in the south of the Netherlands are having similar beautiful days although it is getting a bit too dry now.

Our grass has turned yellow and not very appealing to look at. I am enjoying the sunny weather, although on occasions it has been a little too hot.

Today we had a nice refreshing sprinkling of rain. I think that might perk the grass up a bit :-)

  7. Lucky you! When I was there it was rather gloomy.

Every time that I have visited the stones the sunshine has shown them off in all their glory.

Shadows on one side making the stones look dark and sunshine on the other side highlighting the stones and making the stones look light. Grey or Golden!
