I can see how someone can do a lot of walking, looks like a lot of places to explore.
Coffee is on
I am lucky to have some lovely places to go exploring near to me
Another hidden gem!
I really need to explore Shropshire more often.
This abbey reminded me of the Scottish Borders.
I have only been to Melrose and Jedburgh though.
If you like Melrose and Jedburgh you should add Dryburgh to your list.
Wenlock Abbey is an atmospheric place. There are several abbeys in Shropshire another I would recommend for atmosphere is Buildwas which is Small and peaceful.
Wow – just wonderful. It is the next EH property I hope to visit unless my son gets his way and we go to Peverill Castle first!! The town looks interesting for a wander too We drove through on the way to Stokesay. Lovely photos Cherie
Wenlock Abbey and the town are well worth a visit
Peveril castle is on my list, it has been for some time. We visited Castleton for a weekend just after the foot and mouth outbreak in 2001. Due to a selfish farmer who would not move his cattle out of a field in the area the castle was off limits. It was supposed to be a walking weekend but most walks were off limits too so we had to improvise.
Mr C has never really got back into walking since then…
Very interesting design on wall in images 4 and especially 5
The wall in image 5 would have originally been painted.
