After a ‘Northern Adventure’, on the way home we often stop off for lunch at Brough ice cream parlour and tea room. The food is delicious with the added bonus of views of the castle.
If there is time I am always tempted to walk up to the castle to take in the scenic views and contemplate the history of the ruin.
- The history of the site can be found on the English Heritage website.
Looks as if you had the place to yourselves, Cherie. Tea shop, too – great
The castle has been quiet on most of our visits, however the tea shop is usually busy
I visited Lancashire right before the pandemic started two years ago.
That was the last time I travelled so far up north.
Would love to visit Cumbria soon though.
We always travel through here when we visit Northumberland. Taking the M6 rather than the M1 makes the journey longer but it is much more enjoyable.
it seems irresistible to avoid such glorious walk once you have it front of you
what lush and gorgeous area ,your captures are very intriguing dear Cheri ,i loved this virtual tour absolutely
It is a lovely place we enjoy for lunch on our Northern adventures.
