    When the weather is lovely and the wine is chilling away, I would not making a dinner just for 2 people. Invite eg 3 other couples and ask each couple to bring one course eg
    an hors d’oeuvres platter, salad and vegetables, and a cake and fruit bowl. That leaves you just the meat/fish or whatever you love on the BBQ :)

      I used to enjoy bigger gatherings where others contributed but our friend circle is no longer couple orientated…

      Mostly bachelors (divorced) so they are not in the frame of mind for bringing food dishes to compliment a meal or even drinks!

      We often invite them for a meal but the sharing experience you mention is not there. On these occasions we are the caterers.

    I enjoy BBQ but I hate scrubbing off grease from the grill afterwards. ;)
