Two of the Green Iguanas that reside at Stratford-upon-Avon Butterfly Farm.
The green iguana’s extensive range comprises the rain forests of northern Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean Islands, and southern Brazil. They spend most of their lives in the canopy, descending only infrequently to mate, lay eggs, or change trees.
Primarily herbivores, iguanas are active during the day, feeding on leaves, flowers, and fruit. They generally live near water and are excellent swimmers. If threatened, they will leap from a branch, often from great heights, and escape with a splash to the water below. They are also tough enough to land on solid ground from as high as 40 feet and survive.
How fascinating to meet Benny and Buddy, the Green Iguanas! It’s amazing how resilient and adaptable these creatures are, especially their ability to leap from great heights and survive. I love how you’ve shared not just their habitat but also a little glimpse into their world. The fact that they’re primarily herbivores and such skilled swimmers makes them even more interesting.
I’ve just posted something new over at http://www.melodyjacob.com, and I’d be so happy if you could take a look and share your thoughts. Wishing you a lovely weekend, full of more fascinating discoveries like Benny and Buddy.
This weekend we enjoyed spending time with a friend
Oh, what magnificent creatures they are. I had no idea they were (mostly) herbivores or that they jump.
Thankfully the Benny and Buddy don’t jump down on unsuspecting visitors. But they do occasionally escape and wander into the shop area
Dear Cherie
They are magnificent creatures for sure ????
Reminds me when we moved to our native village and they were easy to find on hills
But with time they moved to higher and thickly planted hills.
Lots of love and best wishes ♥️
They are impressive and it was lovely to see them close up. From time to time they like to escape into the shop area.
Love & hugs to you ♥️
We don’t have these creatures in Malaysia.
But we do have a lot of monitor lizards.
I hope they are as fascinating as the iguanas.
