This Gothic church which was built in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries is the second largest in Mechelen. It is on the site that Mechelen’s first parish church probably stood. The tower contains a complete carillon with no fewer than 49 bells.

The Fulling Mill…
…and lockhouse
Both buildings are the remains of a complex which at the end of the fifteenth century comprised seven water mills. Most were demolished after the water supply was cut off in 1907. The fulling of woolen cloth i.e. cleaning and thickening process, were carried out at the fulling mill.*
