I have just arranged my holidays for later in the year and I will be staying in one of my favorite places, and most especially in my favorite room. The hotel is situated in Northumberland and there is so much to do an see around there.

The first mosaic shows how it looked when I first visited in 2003.  I can’t find a good picture of the chairs but they were blue leather with wooden arms which were the same colour as the table.

When I visited in 2007 the hotel had a new owner, but was still run in the same way as before.  As you can see from the second mosaic the room has had a makeover, but the owner still wasn’t happy with the decor, especially the bathroom.  Apparently the room has had yet another makeover and won a tourist board award!

The breakfasts and evening meals are delicious and if you feel especially hungry you can order afternoon tea with cakes too.

Pictures from the 2007 holiday can be found here, partly in Northumberland and partly in the Lake District.  Writing that has reminded me that there was a bit of a saga with my car too…

It looks great, Cherie – lovely set of pix from ‘07. The regional tourist board should snap ‘em up. Love the one of the sandalled feet pointed toward the window – sums up some of the best things about holidays.
Had relatives in Northumberland. Beautiful up there: wild, open spaces, sea, castles, great traditional music, fascinating border history. Nearly forgot: found website today thought you’d like – http://www.flowersofcrete.info. Now wondering about the car …

I like that set better too :-) I can’t wait to see what they have done with it now, although I will have to because the holiday isn’t for some time.

I had a feeling you would check out the gallery :-) Feet shots like that are entitled FUTAB (feet up take a break), it is a fun thing I picked up from posting my photos on Flickr.

Thanks for the link :-) I have never been to Crete, there are some lovely flowers on the site. Maybe I just need to arrange a holiday there too!

There is an explanation on what happened with my car here. It was the second time it happened which is how I knew what the problem was. Now I have a new car ;-)

Why do you stay in England during your holidays, Cherie? Do you not get much time off?

I usually alternate between home and abroad. It was the year to go abroad, but with the exchange rates the way they are it isn’t value for money.

I usually go on a coach trip to the continent in November, but this years trip has been canceled because to many people said it was too expensive this year.

Looks like a lovely place to stay Cherie and I’m sure you’ll enjoy getting away from it all.

Ah, I see – glad you’ve got new car, then! Sounds as if mechanics wouldn’t be able to put one over on you, Cherie – good for you ;-) !
