I was quite surprised this morning when I drew back the curtains, it was a perfect November morning. I love these foggy mornings and the autumnal colours; we just don’t seem to get very many of them these days. It is difficult to imagine today, that just 4 weeks ago when I visited Kent for the weekend it seemed like it was the height of summer.
One of the places I visited was Chartwell, which was the home of Sir Winston Churchill for 40 years. Sir Winston was captivated by Chartwell the moment he set eyes on the valley and saw the house set on the hillside and the beautiful beech woods and spectacular views over the Weald of Kent. Before the Churchills moved in, the house had to undergo a lot of alterations to make it suitable for them. It is just the sort of house that I could live in and it is full of fascinating information about Churchill.
you do get to see some really nice houses / homes/ castles
I really enjoy visiting them all It brings history alive and puts it in context
Great minds think alike. Also, fab photos.
We are obviously quite in tune today The Chartwell gardens plus some other features are on the cards for later this week
Lovely house.
I read Churchill’s biography and he was fascinating.
