FUTAB - SaturdayToday I have been having a mega sort out and tidy up ready for Christmas, it is one of those habitual things I always seem to do at this time of year. There are usually visitors staying, but this year I am not sure that is going to happen. I probably won’t know until the week before Christmas, that is normal too…

But anyway I have managed to clear out a load of old papers and had great fun with the shredding machine. I know; I need to get a life ;-)

I have also sorted out some of my books and moved all my shoes into one place and in the process ended up with a wall of shoes. If that sounds a little strange it is because I keep all my shoes in their boxes so they are tidy and don’t get damaged. It also makes them easier to find. I think I have been a bit more ruthless than usual and I still haven’t finished!

I shall blame the excessive tidying on work where we have been having a mega sort out and it has turned me a bit OCD. But there again I did find some things in my desk drawers that went back to 1988, including an article on the MoD department that investigated UFO sightings, the closure of which took effect yesterday.  This bit in the Telegraph’s article gave me a wry smile:

No decision was announced and the disclosure was instead buried on its website earlier this month.

Which reminds me I am still annoyed but not in the least bit surprised by yesterday’s Cabinet Office announcement that it will be imposing the proposed changes to the Civil Service Compensation Scheme.  Despite what it says on their website, it was done without consultation, but that is enough about that for now.

I think it is time to relax with a small glass of sherry before dinner ;-)

‘done without consultation’ as someone who works for Royal Mail I understand this concept fully!

Yes my heart is with you and your fellow postal workers. My PCS colleagues and I are fully in support of you in your dispute.

I always fear the words ‘no decision has been made’. It always means a decision has been made and one way or another it will be forced through!

wow a wall of shoes…… just how many pairs do you have lol

I didn’t think anyone drank Sherry any more :-)

It seems I had more than I thought LOL and we didn’t get onto the handbags!

This is a rather special dry oloroso, so not sherry as you would imagine. That sort of sherry is reserved for the Christmas trifle ;-)

    Shoe-bee-doo-bee-doo … :)

It is all relative. A wall of shoes sounds a trifle OTT to the average chap but small potatoes to the curator of Imelda’s Shoe Museum.

Well guys get along fine with smart for work and casual plus maybe a trainer.

Us girls need everyday sensible, smart for evenings out and practical for walking. The every day sensible and smart for evenings out need several colours if a girl wears skirts. Otherwise she would look scruffy ;-)

If I had as many as Imelda I would have to move house LOL

I keep all mine in boxes too and at last count I had 80 pairs most of which I don’t wear but they are too “good” to dicard.

I hope you’re careful with the shredding machine. My son gave me one, two months ago. And I’m happily shredding my life away. I think I’ve become addicted. Love your drawing. All the best, always. Cheers!:)

Nothing like a good sort out! Must be somehting in the air as Husband is going through a large pile of cables, wires and chargers that seem to accumulate. I suspect most of them are for gadgets we no longer have :)

  8. Ach the new compensation scheme is not going to have people charging for early retirement or severance, methinks.

Tidy up for Christmas – freeze, deep depression.

  11. I’d have a wall of shoes too if I put the boxes on top of each other tidily – but I just throw them in the bottom of the wardrobe!
