…reminded me of a special moment when I was on my holiday in Northumberland earlier this year.
I was privileged to see a red squirrel as I was travelling through the countryside near Chillingham. Initially he was sitting on the pillar at the end of a bridge I was about to cross but he leaped into this tree as I drove past. I thought he was going to run away but instead he turned and sat looking at me for several minutes until I realised I was causing a road block due to the narrow bridge and had to drive off.
Due to the poor lighting the picture came out grainy so I had to be a bit creative with the photograph and here is my final result.
Speaking of holidays, Christmas is nearly upon us and I am not in the slightest bit prepared. I need to go and write some Christmas cards; I will be back later!
when I was on my holiday in Northumb…erland earlier this year.
Grrrrr.
Sometimes I really wonder why I bother to get out of bed in the morning…
Quite Warholesque, CP.
It took a bit of working on, but it does look better than the original
Christmas time so much to do so little time lol
My sentiments exactly Sally
I too like the red. Unfortunately, only the grey are in my local park.
I have only seen a red one twice, they are much much nicer than the grey.
Lucky you! THe last time I saw a red was outside Leningrad..the name tells you how long ago that was!
I felt priveliged to see the squirrel especially as it was quite clearly curious about me. You can probably tell from the picture it was looking me in the eye.
They just don’t want to breed perhaps.
I think it is probably because they are too trusting and not as aggressive as their grey cousins!

Sounds like the sort of working on my images (of myself) could do with. Hmmm, I wonder what I’d look like with hair on my head again. Hopefully not as ridiculous as in the seventies though
Hmm! My hair in the 70’s… My Mum told me it was awful, I didn’t believe her at the time!!!
I don’t think I will post a pic of me then
That was me! Previous comment. Managed to put my googlemail address in instead of my name. Oh except maybe it’ll be moderated after this one gets through unhindered… Let’s see. Have I messed up CherryPie time and space here?
I knew it was you immediately
I have the moderation set to only publish if someone has commented before. I don’t like to do that but someone was abusing my blog to attack a friend of mine.
Apart from those (attack comments) all comments get published. Even the spam I just remove the live links to those
Yes I have, so just in case of any confusion may I make it perfectly clear that I did not intend to suggest that I am James Higham
No you didn’t mess up on the time and space continuum but I do think I need to get a second opinion off James on whether he thinks you were masquerading as him
This artwork is lovely. Didn’t even know about red squirrels.
Oh Wow! they are the indigenous squirrel species for these isles. The greys were introduced later…
I am glad you like the artwork
Oh, you lucky thing, you! Have never seen a red squirrel, and have always been enraged by American interloper with bullying, imperialist tendancies (that’ll be the grey squirrel, then …). Great pic, and excellent bit of illustrative problem-solving.
The reds are so much nicer than the greys. I have only seen one twice but I do hope I get the opportunity again
