These are utterly fantastic machines and the way that you captured them Cherie… i used to have two miniature steam engines when i was a boy… they weren’t more than ten inches long and all they would do is to turn a wheel… but it was loads of fun!! :) …..peter:)

  2. Steve Hayes says:

How far apart were the top and bottom pictures taken? Did you take them both?

    • CherryPie says:

They were taken at different places within Blists Hill museum. Yes I took them both, I had inadvertently set my camera to B&W which is why the first one is in B&W. I am not sure why the one in the bottom picture was driving along the canal-side though.

      • Steve Hayes says:

The B&W one looked as though it was taken in the 1960s (clothes, hairstyles etc), and the cap too is different from the colour one.

        • CherryPie says:

They were two different engines driven by different people. I think it is the B&W that gives the first picture a vintage feel.

When I saw the second photo I knew where this was! happy memories of a school trip there many years ago.

  4. Claude says:

It would be fun to have one of those, instead of my walker.

  5. Do the entrance tickets include free rides?
    I’d love to try!

  6. Becca says:

The place looks great and first time to saw this kind of machine.

British Organ Grinders Association’s 20th Anniversary Spring Gathering and AGM will be from 12th May – 15th May at Blists Hill Victorian Town, Telford, Shropshire.
Oh bother! I am always getting the pages of my diary stuck together!
What a pity both you and I missed the organ grinders playing. :(
But there is always next year. :)

    • CherryPie says:

I did mention the Organ Grinders gathering was only just up the road from me…

I know you are uncomfortable with the distance, but next year stop overnight somewhere and we can meet uo :-)

      • Bernard says:

It’s the ‘there and back in day’ that puts me off, but I am looking at small caravans at the moment. I would like a motor-home but the prices are soooo high. :(
A wee caravan is just the job for an overnight stop. I told the chap I wanted a one berth, but he said they don’t make those. I’d have to use half a two berth! :)
The bad news is CherryPie – the gathering will be somewhere else next year. I went to the one in Swindon if you remember? Cheers….Bernard. :)
