It’s a great photo. The magic is in the caring daddy carrying proudly his sweet little girl. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Claude The expression on my face makes me smile.
The love shines through in this photo. Just perfect fatherly love.
Thankyou Marilyn
Such a heart warming image.
Thanks Frida
You don’t look at all impressed by your first flight? I wonder what type of aircraft that was? Better not tell – it might give away your age.
Apparently it was an awful plane, we were going to the Isle of Man. It was a very small plane and not very comfortable by all accounts although I obviously can’t remember it
If I remember I will ask my Mum for a bit more detail.
The reason I ask CherryPie is that I notice it has those strange square windows. Off to ‘Mann’ as the locals say.
(Well, so I’m told.)
Was your Dad interested in the TT motor-cycle races perhaps?
My first flight was to Jersey from Heathrow, and the second was from Jersey to Guernsey on an old Dakota aircraft with square windows.

Sorry for the long link.

The only additional information I can add for now is that seats were as low as the wheels…
It was just a holiday, not for the TT. Although in later years we did end up there (co-incidentally) when the TT was taking place.
My Dad would know what the aircraft was, but I can’t ask him anymore I will ask my Mum for more details (and photos) and maybe we can work it out between us
I love this picture. This must bring back nice memories. I read the replies. These are the special occasions you remember. I have the same with my dad (who passed away 31 years ago) I am glad you and I both have pictures to keep the memory alive.
I am glad I have the pictures too. I love to look back at old pictures
