After a difficult visit with mum on Christmas afternoon we travelled home the long way round to see the various Christmas light displays.

This one, near to where I live is lovely.

Local Lights

The subsequent visits have not go got any better…

Forgive me, but for me this is simply light pollution.

It is only there for a few days of the year and a few hours of the day. I small pocket of joy.

There is more serious light polution that lasts all night, all year round visible from my house. Not to mention the appaling structures which I think are part of a play area. I feel sorry for the people who have to look at that view.

That’s true, but that wasn’t the topic. So soon after Christmas I don’t want to accuse anyone of whataboutism, though. ;-)

  2. Lovely festive trees – re Light pollution it will only be for a few weeks and compared to street lights (although better than they were) and people’s security lighting and perishing solar lights which go on all year, it is a small thing.

We like to drive (or walk) around and see the Christmas lights, too. :)

Hey, at least the lights are better than the nylon/polyester 300-ft tall Grinch stuff that are so popular now, littering the neighborhood and terrifying the dogs lol

BTW, we just had a Christmas dinner for 2 as well – everyone else was elsewhere. We had visitors that day to exchange gifts and the like, but the dinner was just the two of us. It was kind of nice, actually – peaceful :)

Also because Mark wanted a ham, which I have never cooked before, like a full ham, and knowing they have to be cooked to just the right temperature, I ordered one instead, so no frantic cooking, this year – just our usual annual soft gingerbread cookies with lemon icing, which we decorate and give out to everyone with gifts – the fun part. :)

Hope everything with your mum is okay?

Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year, too!

    Huggings,

    Chrystal

We don’t really get Grinch stuff (thank goodness) as part of local decorations.

I hope you enjoyed your ham for a change. We have been having left over turkey; stew, curry and next lasagne.

Mum is up and down and not yet home.

I am pleased you enjoyed them, and other, Cherie. Here in my neighbourhood there is virtually nothing apart from the odd strings of lights

    • CherryPie says:

Maybe a quiet night sky with the moon and planet alignments comensate for that.

These bodies in the sky fascinate me at this time of year.

Unfortunately, this year I haven’t had time acknowledge their presence in the sky.
