You need special shoes for hiking – and a bit of a special soul as well.

Today I completed my #walk1000miles 2020 challenge walking around Telford Town Park.
Thank you Angie for accompanying me (and choosing the route) as I reached my goal and also for the wonder of Dinosaurs.
We were soggy but happy after our 4.9 mile adventure.

Our true home is in the present moment. To live in the present moment is a miracle. The miracle is not to walk on water. The miracle is to walk on the green Earth in the present moment…

On Saturday a window of opportunity arose for a mid afternoon walk in Attingham Park. Unfortunately the mansion has to remain closed this year but the grounds have been decked out in a Christmassy theme.

Castle Combe is a quintessentially English village often named as the ‘prettiest village in England.’ The village sits in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in north west Wiltshire.
Castle Combe has featured regularly as a film location, most recently in The Wolf Man, Stardust and Stephen Spielberg’s War Horse. It was also used in the original Dr Doolittle film.
The village has a rich history and the houses are made up of the honey coloured Cotswold stone, typical for a village of this area.Within Castle Combe you’ll find a Market Cross and St Andrew’s Church which dates from the 13th century. The church houses a faceless clock which is reputed to be one of the oldest working clocks in the country. You’ll also find a couple of pubs and a luxury hotel with a golf course within the village.
Stroll along the village to the bridge and you’ll not only enjoy the views but may be able to purchase homemade cakes, sweets or bunches of flowers from outside the locals’ houses. Stop at the bottom of the village by the bridge and enjoy a great photographic moment too!

Stepping out from my doorstep this afternoon I had a lovely five mile walk (sorry no photos). It was a little chilly but that didn’t stop me from ’sitting and resting a while’ on one of my favourite benches watching the ducks and geese up to their antics.
I wasn’t entirely alone. Nearby was a fisherman waiting patiently by the side of the pool, fishing rod in hand. In the short time that I was there he hooked two fish. This is the first time I have seen a fisherman land a catch there. I wonder if this was because the pool was quiet and he was patient and gentle.
After my walk we put up the first of our Christmas decorations, a decorated tree in the front of our house. Usually we wait until a week before Christmas but this year I think everyone needs a little sparkle and shine to cheer them up.
