I have now completed my ‘Race the Distance ‘ 50 mile virtual walk to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings. Myvirtual walk took me along the beaches of Normandy where the D-Day landings took place.
When my medal arrives I hope to do something special on June 6th to complete my commemoration of the day.

Once again, I needed to move my Attingham Park Volunteering afternoon from my usual Tuesday afternoon slot, mum had a dental appointment.
Wednesday afternoon was rainy and consequently not many people ventured out. Of those that did many were first time visitors and some had chosen to come after deciding not to join their planned walk with a walking group due to the weather.

The rain didn’t stop play for me. After my volunteering shift, I ventured out for a walk taking tree lined routes rather than venturing further afield in the parkland. I was surprised to find the walled garden was difficult to navigate due to pools of water blocking some of the pathways.
The walk was refreshing despite or maybe because of the rain and due to my trusty umbrella, I completed my 3 mile walk without getting wet!

We arrived just in time for lunch, my coronation chicken sandwich was delicious. After lunch we had an enjoyable afternoon with a visit to the house followed by a walk round the gardens and woodland.

It was good to visit after over 30 years of driving past the hall when visiting relatives in the Manchester area.

A friend was visiting to work on a war game scenario with Mr C followed by board games. I had just enough time for a local walk in the glorious sunshine. On my walk I took a selfie in the same place I took the rainy-day selfie on my way back from my recent volunteering at a local school.

Back at home we enjoyed a game of Pillars of the Earth. Then we sat on the patio soaking up the sunshine before a roast beef dinner.

After dinner we played another board game, Zooloretto. I have lost my touch; I didn’t win either of them… But I came a close second

Look with soft eyes.
See the place where the tides and the seasons and the turning of the earth all come together and everything that is becomes one.
You’ve got to seek that place with your soul.

My only walk today was around town shopping for hair essentials for mum. I parked in a distant car park so that I could get some steps in. I had intended to go for a more leisurely walk in the afternoon but the rain and ‘thunder’ led me to stay at home and do some household chores instead.
I was satisfied with my afternoon activity but it meant I fell a bit short on my mileage for the day.
Later in the day the clouds lifted and the rain subsided which meant that we could enjoy ‘fine dining’ on the patio.
