First ContactRecently the ‘Caribbean Princess‘ posted about ‘The Happiness Project‘.  Her post has inspired me to undertake a similar project.  My project will follow on from my  ‘100 reasons to be glad‘ project which I still haven’t quite finished ;-)

My happiness project will focus on fine tuning my happiness. I have made an initial list of things to focus on, the first one is finish my ‘100 reasons to be glad’ photo project.

Every good project has to have a good home to house it and the Spring Green (Chameleon) Filofax called out to a lover of spring and new growth, which makes me feel happy :-)   When it arrived I liked the fact that it had pastal tabs, paper and ruler rather than the black and white that was shown on the website.

I digress…

The filofax came with two years worth of diary inserts (18 months left to go), so my project will last 18 months (unless I decide to extend it ;-) )

I am in the process of organising my filofax to house my project, it is a work in progress.  Photos coming soon…

I will leave you with this thought:

There is no path to happiness: happiness is the path.

I was recently honoured by being invited to join the very talented ladies at ‘Vision and Verb‘.  I have been following the V&V site since it was formed in January 2010 and have always found their presentation of Vision and Verb very inspirational.

What is this collaboration of women  of a certain age all about?

Vision and Verb is a collaboration of women of a certain age who have a passion for photography and writing, or who have a passion for one and a willingness to grow and develop the skills in the other.  What exactly does “women of a certain age” mean?  It means that we are women in the prime of our lives, slightly older women whose children are grown or mostly grown.  We are also women who’ve never had children, single women, married women, straight women, gay women, women who live in the country or the city or a foreign land.  Above all, we are women who have had life experiences and the desire to share those experiences and our unique perspectives with you.

I would like to invite you to read my first post on the V&V site today.

His Life Continues by Lynn New

New Beginings

When death walks by with quiet tread,
To touch a loved one, who’s then led
Away from sleep, away from pain,
To wake in joy, to live again.

You’ll hear him on a whispered breeze,
A calling bird; in swaying trees.
Do not weep long, but lift your eyes,
You’ll see his glory in God’s skies.

He’ll be there in a swallow’s flight,
His eyes in stars on a velvet night.
His courage strong in every tree,
His name carved well, for eternity.

Hide not your love within your heart,
For he will always be a part
Of you, and everything you do…
For death is nought, when love is true.

This is the first time I have visited the Rose Garden when it is in full bloom, it was worth the wait. It is filled with David Austin roses, so it is a little bit like home from home for me although I have to confess that I have never visited David Austin Roses… I must remedy that :-)

In the Rose Garden, pathways below pergolas swathed in roses, honeysuckle and clematis lead through tumbling masses of fragrant roses, a mix of climbing, shrub, old and English varieties. There are more than three thousand David Austin Roses, including Just Joey, Jude the Obscure and Gertrude Jekyll.

In celebration of The Alnwick Garden, David Austin created a beautiful new English rose, the Alnwick Rose, launched at RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2001. This rich pink rose has a lovely cup-shaped flower and a delicious fragrance with a hint of raspberries.*
