Guardian Angels Chapel

The chapel takes its name from the beautiful heads of angels which decorate the vault. They were painted in around 1240 by Master William, the King’s Painter, and restored 1959-60.

One can spend ages looking a cathedral ceilings. Most are full of symbols and special rubriks. I am often reminding myself that our view of the millenia past are of meagreness and poverty (compared to today) and forgetful of the great human spirit that was just as deep back then as now.

Yes we should always remember to look up when inside a cathedral or church.

There was a lot of human spirit and devotion back then, leading the the achievement of outstanding architecture that still stands to day.
