So very beautiful and I love the maze pattern in the lawn – there was a similar maze when I visited Morville Dower House Gardens. A lovely set of images.
I have not yet visited the Dower House Gardens which is quite unforgivable as they are so close to me!
it is an enjoyable visit to this castle, CP. i liked the water features. and a nice day to be out walking this place.
There is so much to see. I have only touched on it briefly.
Turf mazes are very rare and because of their build are prone to being destroyed or neglected over time.
The one at Saffron Walden in Essex was just down the road when we lived near there and has historic importance as it is the biggest turf maze in the world and with Arundel is one of only eight in the country, they are to be cherished as something almost uniquely British.

I love mazes of any kind, they fascinate me.
I did not realize that Turf mazes were rare. Now I am wondering about the other mazes on the list and if i could visit them too…
Gee, what spectacular gardens. I bet they took quite a bit of maintenance.
A labour of love
I love the trees or vines growing up the walls and over the top. If only I could do that in my gardens.
Our garden is naturally like that. Ivy has invaded from the bridle path beyond.
These gardens will make Alan Titchmarsh so jealous.
But I actually prefer Monty Don, he he… Must be his dogs!
The gardens are a delight. No need for anyone to feel jealous
