After lunch I stepped out for a quick walk along my local pathways. I didn’t take a camera with me, thinking that there would be nothing new of interest to photograph.
How wrong I was! The geese and ducks were flocking in a different area around Leegomery pools. The ducks in particular were wandering around my feet.
Luckily I had my iPhone to hand and was able to capture a few pictures of the scene.
I wonder if I will ever learn the lesson that I should always take my camera with me…
Whilst I was there (before extending my walk towards Apley woods) I investigated a turning on the T50 50 path that I wasn’t clear about. I have now got it sussed

After not quite making it to Attingham Park yesterday I was able to have an afternoon walk there today. I had been wavering in my intention, the weather was sunny with a few fluffy white clouds in the sky but it was rather windy. Was I in the mood for a windy walk?
I had to smile as I was driving there. There was a sprinkling of rain which had not been in the weather forecast. It brightened up again until I stepped out on my walk. Then it started to spot with rain. I chose to carry on with the walk but walked quickly around the walled garden which is one of my favorite parts of Attingham. I wanted to finish my walk but I didn’t want to get caught in the rain. I had my umbrella but it would have been useless in the gusty wind.
Walled garden behind me I was now under the cover of trees, walking along the ‘mile walk’, a pathway that I particularly enjoy. I was pleasantly surprised to find that a bench that had been removed several years ago had been reinstalled in a favourite place of mine to ’sit and rest a while’.
Despite the threat of rain I chose to ’sit and rest a while’ before continuing along the ‘mile walk’. As I emerged from under the trees the capricious grey cloud had passed by and the sun came out.
I couldn’t resit venturing into the deer park. I wasn’t disappointed. The deer were present rather than hiding in the far reaches of the parkland.
After my walk I was in need of refreshment so I stopped at the Mansion Coffee House for a cool drink. I was plagued by wasps so it wasn’t very relaxing!
Whilst I was not quite enjoying my refreshing drink I was entertained by a squirrel that ventured under the tables in search of tasty morsels. I managed one quick photo and was lining up for a better (squirrel in focus shot) before a clueless youth exclaimed ‘Oh a Squirrel’ and stomped towards it only to be surprised that it disappeared rather quickly!

First thing this morning the sun was shining tempting me to visit Attingham Park for a walk in the woodlands. Before going out on any adventure I had to wait in for a routine maintenance visit scheduled between 8.30 and 13.30.
The maintenance man arrived at around 10 am, but for some reason a job that usually takes 15 to 20 minutes took almost an hour! By this time the sun had gone in an it was almost lunch time.
After lunch I decided that there was was not enough time to do Attingham Park justice so I chose to leave that visit for another day.
Earlier in the day my customised map for my local area (as inspired by Country Walking’s ‘Walk Every Path’) arrived.
This led to me revisiting a regular local walk to see how it had changed from my previous visit a few weeks ago. When I got to the pool views I sat and rested a while, watching the ducks, geese, seagulls and fish leaping out of the water.
Later in the day I was able to enjoy fine dining on the patio as the Waxing Crescent Moon came into view over our garden.

Set on a rolling hillside above the picturesque village of Cerne Abbas, the 180ft tall club-wielding man has long been regarded as a sign of fertility due to his large, erect phallus. It is not agreed how old the Cerne Abbas Giant is, but the most likely explanation is that he depicts Hercules, the god with super- human strength. Hence he was probably created as a pagan idol during the Iron Age period of Britain.
There is some evidence that the Giant may once have carried a cloak over the left arm and a severed head in his hand.
